Freqently Asked Questions

How much is each session?

My fees are £35 for each 50 minute session. Your first consultation conducted over the phone is free.

If we establish that therapy is right for you during this consultation we will agree on how to proceed as part of a contract between us. I will explain how I will keep what you share with me strictly private and safe.

Once we begin counselling I ask you to commit as far as possible to a mutually convenient regular time and day.

How do you work?

I work primarily from a person-centred approach, which means I strongly believe that within all of us are the 'seeds' we need for growth. I believe we can experience 'blocks' to this growth which can be understood and worked on together.

I cannot provide answers to your problems but can help you deepen your understanding of yourself and your relationships, helping you to live with much greater awareness and effect the changes you want to see.

Whilst I work from a humanistic basis, I draw on different modalities depending on your needs, for example elements of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and  psychodynamic theory. But the heart of what I do is being with you in a warm and non-judgemental way.

I won't ask you to complete homework between sessions but will ask you to reflect on therapy during the process.

How do sessions take place?

I have counselled clients over the phone, using text-based webchat, virtually and in person.

I currently work over Zoom in a safe and secure way, or you can see me in comfortable, confidential and secure premises on Beaumont Fee in the centre of Lincoln for face to face work.

I will accommodate as much as possible with what works best for you.

How many sessions will I need?

I have worked with clients over many different timeframes and there is no right amount of therapy for everyone. We will conduct regular reviews to make sure that you are happy with how things are going, and I have a strong commitment to making sure you always feel you are getting the most out of the process.

You do not have to block book sessions and I can be flexible but in my experience, clients get the most out of counselling when they commit to a regular time and day for their sessions.
